Why is the game called Pickleball?!

Have you ever wondered why the game is called Pickleball? Joel Pritchard was an American businessman and politician who served in the US House of Representatives. Pritchard and two of his friends Bill Bell and Barney McCallum invented the game of pickleball in 1965. Rumor has it that the name Pickleball came from the Pritchard family dog named Pickles, Pickles would pick up the plastic whiffle balls from the court playing a game of fetch. Pritchard would ask for the ball back saying pickle-ball.
